WinSize2 Remembers Window Position & Size with a Hotkey in Windows 7

We might want to open a certain application always in a certain position and size. For example, we want Windows Explorer to be always maximized whenever we open it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen. Some programs can remember their last positions and sizes, but some others cannot.

To make all programs, especially Windows Explorer, always remember their position and size, you can use a third-party application like WinSize2.

WinSize2 is a free application written in AutoHotkey that enables you to save the window position and size of any program as well as individual folders.

To save a window location and size, first make sure that the program’s window is active by clicking its title bar. Then press the customizable hotkey, Ctrl+Alt+Z. There will be a tiny notification appears on screen telling you that the position has been saved. From now on, the program’s window will always open at the state when you save its position and size.

If someday you need to change how the window should be opened, you can edit its behavior from the main window of WinSize2. Just double-click its tray icon to access the main window. Here you can force the application to open maximized, minimized, full-screen or hidden. You can even manually enter the position coordinate and width/height of the window. Optionally, the window can be set to always on top. Any saved position can be deleted when you don’t need it anymore.

WinSize2 works with Windows 7, XP, 2000, NT, 98, 95. Download Winsize2 from the Sourceforge.
