Convert Web Page to PDF in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer (IE), Opera, Safari
Web2PDF is a free online service that allows you to convert a web page to pdf. Some options like adding user password for the pdf and specifying pdf page orientation are provided. To convert a web page to pdf, you can just copy and paste the URL. Or, if you convert frequently, you can make use of the browser’s add-on as well as bookmarklet, which work with popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, IE, Opera and Safari.
Since I use Chrome much more often than Firefox, I installed only the add-on for Chrome. Once the installation is finished, the Web2PDF button appears next to the address bar. When you come across a web page you want to convert, click the button, followed by clicking “Convert to PDF”. You can download the PDF output or view it in Google Docs.

There are several things to note, however:
- Before starting the conversion, you can configure some stuff like adding restrictions, remove Web2PDF logo from the output, adding date and URL stamp, description, etc. (Update: the ability to configure some options for the PDF output isn’t free anymore)
- If you use an add-on to convert, do not close or even move to another tab when the conversion is still in the process. Otherwise, the conversion will stop and you’ll have to start it again. If you use the bookmarklet, you can move to another tab but don’t close the tab.
- I tried to use the bookmarklet as well. While the add-on provides options for changing some configurations, the bookmarklet instantly converts without providing any option.
Unfortunately, the add-ons are only available for Firefox, Chrome and IE. For other browsers (Opera and Safari), you’ll have to use the bookmarklet.
