Posted in Utility on 2010

Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del in Windows 7 displays a list of options such as lock computer, switch user, log off, change password and start task manager. For some reason, you might want to disable one or two options, but unfortunately Windows doesn’t provide an easy way to do this. Advanced users can disable the options by tweaking registry, though. Stuxnet is a new family of malware that has drawn a large number of attention from security researchers in the mid of this July. By taking advantage of the previously unknown vulnerability in Windows shell, which was discovered lately in most of the current versions of Windows–including Windows Vista, Windows 7, both 32- and 64-bit versions, and Windows Server 2008–Stuxnet is able to run itself without user interaction as soon as the .lnk file in an infected USB drive is read by the operating system. Download New Bing Pictures Automatically with Bing4Free

Posted in Desktop Enhancement on 2010

Bing search engine background is full of nice pictures that are constantly updated from day to day. Interested users can easily download an active Bing picture. To download previous pictures, users can switch to older pictures by using the forward and backward controls on the bottom-right corner of the Bing homepage. However, if downloading Bing pictures becomes your daily routine, it would be a lot easier if you can automate the download task.

Bing4Free is a portable, free application that can automatically download new Bing pictures in a customizable schedule. For instance, it can automatically download up to 10 new Bing wallpapers every certain minutes or hours.

Bing4Free asks if you want to start downloading Bing wallpapers when you run it the first time. If you click “yes”, the download will start automatically. The program doesn’t provide any way to cancel the download process, so you have to wait until the download is completed or you can just shut down the program to stop the download.

Once the download is completed, one of the Bing pictures will be instantly applied to your desktop background. You can change the desktop wallpaper by right-clicking any picture on the preview panel of the program.

Users can also make use of the desktop image background switcher that Bing4Free provides. This will automate the Bing wallpaper rotation on your desktop. However, the program needs to stay in the background to do this.

Bing4Free has been tested on Windows 7 32-bit but it should also work on previous versions like Windows Vista and XP.

Download Bing4Free from codeplex website (You should download the November release. The December release didn’t work when tested on Windows 7 32-bit)
